Marlene Thompson, PT, ACPAC, Advanced Clinician Practitioner in Arthritis Care, Associate Clinical Professor, Western University, is a registered physiotherapist who graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy from the University of Western Ontario, Canada in 1998, following completion of a Bachelor of Science in Biology in 1995, from Windsor University.

Marlene is an Advanced Physiotherapy Practitioner in Arthritis Care, and is an Associate Clinical Professor in Physical Therapy, at Western University. She worked in both Ontario and BC at rehabilitation programs including St. Joseph’s Hospital, Vancouver General Hospital, the Mary Pack Arthritis Program and several private orthopaedic and sports clinics across the country. In 2011 she decided to further her education and completed a certificate for the Advanced Clinician Practitioner in Arthritis Care (ACPAC), program through St. Michael’s hospital and the University of Toronto. Marlene has over 16 years of experience as a physiotherapist, professor and researcher. She has trained and worked as an advanced practitioner in arthritis/orthopaedics within a Rheumatology group at St. Joseph’s hospital.

Marlene is actively involved in research and education. Her research interests are in the areas of Models of Care, triage and arthritis education. Arthritis education is one of her main passions. She sits on the advisory board of the website www.rheuminfo.com. She also actively teaches at both the graduate and undergraduate levels at Western University within the field of rheumatology.

In her spare time Marlene enjoys spending time with her husband and kids. She has 2 boys in competitive hockey and soccer who tend to keep her at a field or a rink most of the time. When she is not watching them play sports she is usually playing one herself. She is an active runner, soccer player and snow boarder.
